The exhibition begins with Rhymes of Beijing Opera, created in 1950 by Wu Dayu, a representative figure of modern Chinese abstract painting, and attempts to provide an opportunity for viewers to appreciate artworks with abstraction from different periods, countries, genres and forms, with a view to bringing about multiple imaginative possibilities, through cases spanning more than 70 years of creation since the 1950s to date. In these works, the interrelationship of elements such as line, shape, space and colour is continuously explored by the artists, the use of materials is diversified, and visual and psychological effects, colour and emotional responses are repeatedly investigated. New aesthetic explorations and new ideas arising from different periods are presented in the exhibition one by one, like a visual landscape.
