Curators: Shona Mei Findlay, Yuan Fuca, Marie Martraire (KADIST) in conversation with He Art Museum curatorial team
Date: 2025.10.10–2026.1.10
Organized by KADIST in collaboration with He Art Museum (Shunde, China), Threads of Kinship departs from the history of the Self-Comb Sisters, women from Guangdong in the early 20th century who made the radical decision to remain unmarried. Rejecting traditional family structures, they lived communally, sustaining themselves through mutual support and silk production. Their choice challenged Confucian norms that restricted women’s identities and futures to the roles of wives or mothers.
