“Tang Yongxiang: Hei Qiao” – Genealogy Study of Artists Project at SSSSTART Research Centre
Start Museum Preparatory Team will present the eighth exhibition of Genealogy Study of Artists Tang Yongxiang: Hei Qiao at SSSSTART Research Centre on 2021 July 30th. The exhibition will focus on Tang Yongxiang’s latest work A Plant on Green Background (2021) and carry out multiple discussions on the artist’s individual cognitive experience and painting methods.
Tang Yongxiang lives and works in Beijing. “Hei Qiao” refers to the art district where the artist worked in his early days in Beijing. The exhibition is Tang Yongxiang’s first solo exhibition in Shanghai. The different context loosens the signified. “Hei Qiao” may no longer be a well-known art district, and its signified will be extended. Tang is used to removing the restrictions that naming places on his works, and is always happy to see more kinds of reading paths to his works.
